Rebuild Trinity

In the early evening of May 11, 2026, an accidental exterior fire spread into the historic sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church, located near the beautiful Broadway Fountain in Madison, Indiana.

Volunteer firefighters from across the region responded selflessly and worked tirelessly throughout the night to save this beloved landmark. Our community awoke with relief to see Trinity’s iconic steeple and Broadway Street gable still standing, but with heavy hearts as we learned that much of the sanctuary’s treasured 1870s interior architecture had been lost.

We thank God that no one was injured.

In these early weeks, church leadership is working diligently with insurance representatives, historic preservation experts, and local agencies to stabilize the remaining structure. We are committed to rebuilding this historic jewel of Madison.

We know Trinity means so much to so many in Madison and beyond. For generations, this church has been the setting for countless moments of faith, celebration, comfort, and community. We have been deeply moved by the stories and memories you have shared.

Together, we can restore and strengthen Trinity so that it may continue to stand as a place of worship, hope, and community for the next 150 years.
